Welcome letter
Dear Sir or Madam,
On behalf of the organizers, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health of the University of Zagreb Medical School, I have the pleasure to invite you to the international conference on “Healthcare Reform in the Republic of Croatia - Experiences and Implementation” which will be held under the Auspices of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Mrs. Jadranka Kosor, 27-29 October 2009 at Plitvice Lakes.
The main aim of the conference is to present the implementation plan and results to date of Croatia’s healthcare reform and to exchange experiences with particular reference to new concepts of financing healthcare, the role and responsibilities of local government and self-government, reform of primary and hospital healthcare, reform of emergency medical service and the importance of educating and training healthcare workers.
The importance of the conference derives not only from the contribution of Croatian experts involved in creating and executing healthcare reform but also from the participation of distinguished international guests – Health Ministers from countries in the region and representatives of international organizations.
The presentation of our healthcare reform to the international participants and the exchange of experiences will, I believe, contribute to a better understanding of the various models for organising healthcare and to planning future action guided by the principle of "health for all".

I am looking forward to meeting you at the Conference.
Yours faithfully,
MINISTER
Darko Milinović, MD
